The isolation of heart glycosides from Helleborus purpurascens. II. Enzymic hydrolysis of hellebrin to deglucohellebrin

Abstract: Fermentative hydrolysis of hellebrin to deglucohellebrin was described. Dried roots of H. purpurascens do not contain β-glucosidase and for that reason the method of autofermentation cannot be applied for the prepn. of deglucohellebrin. The hydrolysis of hellebrin can be accomplished at 37° for 4 days with the enzymic prepn. from dried, above-the-ground parts of Erysimum canescens.
