Cross-linking of saturated polymers on grafting

Abstract: A theoretical analysis of the cross-linking of satd. polymers on grafting with some monomers is given. The cross-linking during grafting is detd. by the part recombination plays with respect to the final termination, by a relation of the rate of the termination to the sum of rate of transfer reactions, and by a relation of the rate of reaction of initiator radicals with a basic polymer to the rate of their addn. onto the monomer. The effect of the character of the decompn. of polymer hydroperoxides plays with respect to the cross-linked structure of the grafted polymer is discussed. Also, differences were pointed out in the exptl. detn. of the degree of cross-linking upon immediate linking of linear chains and upon cross-linking during grafting.
