Oscillopolarographic behavior of scandium(III) ions

Abstract: Effects of oscillopolarographic depolarization by Sc(III) ions were studied. 10^-3M ScCl₃ soln. in 0.5M SrCl₂ soln., in the presence of NO₃^-, NO₂^-, BrO₃^-, or IO₃^-, H₂O₂, (CH₂)₃, CHCl₃, Me₂CO, gave a cathodic and an anodic spike at potentials -0.7 v. and -0.61 v. against the satd. calomel electrode. These spikes were explained by the formation of a complex Sc-Sr hydride and by its oxidation.
