Study of CaCO3 ↹ CaO + CO2 reaction by differential thermal analysis

Abstract: The suitability of the differential-thermal-analysis (I) method for studying assocn. in the reaction CaCO3 ↹ CaO + CO2 for the reactions of similar type was studied. The initial rate of the assocn. of CaO with CO2 is greatest at 750°. The curve of the relation of the degree of assocn. to temp. has a flat max. at 800°. At higher temps. the assocn. lasts longer than at lower temps. On decreasing temp. of the CaO-CO2 assocn. under conditions of I, the temp. of initial decompn. of CaCO3 formed in the assocn. is shifted to lower values.
