Texture and structural changes in Silon fibers. II

Abstract: cf. C.A. 52, 21122f. The orientation of Silon fiber was studied by means of x-rays. At continuous elongation, a temporary orientation in a certain area of the elongation (ratio) was observed. This orientation suggests the possibility of a miniature telescopic effect when continuous elongation is carried out above the crossing point of 2nd degree. The change of blackening intensity of diatropic (002) reflections was observed, starting from the elongation (ratio) relation 1:2.6 until the breaking of the fiber. The obtained min. in the correlation of intensity changes of blackening of diatropic (002) reflections and the elongation indicated the most advantageous mech. properties of the fiber. The mechanism of elongation by applying a continuous process above the crossing point of 2nd degree was also discussed.
