Inner complex salts of beryllium with organic acids of the type Be₄O(RCO₂)₆

Abstract: The formation of inner complex salts of Be with 1- or 2-naphthoic acid is described. The reaction in benzene medium of freshly pptd. Be(OH)₂ with 1- and 2-naphthoic acids yields [Be₄O(1-C₁₀H₇COO)₆], m. 246.5°, and [Be₄O(2-C₁₀H₇-COO)₆], m. 335.5-6.5°, resp. The equation is 4Be(OH)₂ + 6RCO₂H = Be₄O(RCO₂) + 7H₂O, where RCO2H is 1- or 2-naphthoic acid.
