Determination of lignin in bleached viscose cellulose

Abstract: For a complete sepn. of lignin from resins, bleached viscose cellulose (I) is dissolved in 0.2% NaOH, acidified with AcOH to pH 4.0, and the lignin oxidized in CCl₄. Pptd. resins are filtered and after drying dissolved in C₆H₆-EtOH, again evapd. and weighed. For routine analysis, lignin is detd. after the extn. of I with Et₂O.
