Abstract: cf. C.A. 50, 14445c. The presence of Zn2+ and Cd2+ affects the detn. of Fe with dimethylglyoxime (I), ferron, and tiron. In the detn. with I a secondary red color was observed, the formation of which on the presence of Zn2+ and Cd2+. In the detn. with ferron the disturbing effect of traces of Cu was eliminated by Pb diethyldithiocarbamate. The presence of Zn2+  and Cd2+ was shown by a considerable decrease of the extinction coeff. In the detn. with tiron the shift of the wave length of max. extinction in the presence of larger amts. of both salts as well as their specific ion effect was observed. This method was modified by using 'const. addn.' which makes it possible to det. 10-8 g./ml. Fe3+ in the presence of Zn2+ and Cd2+.
