Abstract: The ζ electrokinetic potential (I) measurements in Ca(OH)2 solns. were carried out on coarse cryst. CaCO3, with particle size 5-10 μ, and on fine cryst. CaCO3, with particle size 1.0-1.8 μ. The particles of cryst. CaCO3 showed in all solns. pos. I with max. approx. in solns. of 0.002-0.004N. The max. I of the CaCO3/Ca(OH)2 system on coarse cryst. CaCO3 had the value +26.6 mv., and on the fine cryst.; +32.1 mv. I of the system coarse CaCO3/Ca(HCO3)2 highly purified soln. showed the max. value of +22.5 my., for lower pure Ca(HCO)2, a value of +17.3 mv. The dependence of I on the concn. of Ca(HCO3)2 and Ca(OH)2 solns. is shown in 2 diagrams. The decrease of I at higher concns. of Ca(OH)2 and Ca(HCO3)2. solns. is not caused by the electrolytic transfer of liquid.
