The reducing matter in corn-steep liquor

Abstract: The reducing matter (mostly fermentable sugars) in corn-steep liquor (I) cannot be regarded as a criterion for quality in com. production of lactic acid. The clarification of the soln. of I was modified so that Betrand's method for reducing matter will give reproducible results.
