Volumetric changes in condensation of tungsten and molybdenum anions

Abstract: In Na₂WO₄ and Na₂MoO₄ water solns. acidified with HNO₃, isopolyanions are formed, accompanied with pos. volumetric changes. The curves of the relation of the dilation Δ V to the compn. of the soln. have max. at ratios 1.7 H⁺:WVI and 1.5 H⁺:-MoVI. The ratio 1.7 H⁺:WVI is different from the results of conductometric titration. The ratio 1.5 H⁺:MoVI is in accordance with the conductometric titration and indicates the formation of a metamolybdate anion.
