The theories of irreversible electrode processes and their significance for polarography
J. Koryta
Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Prague
Abstract: A survey of slow reactions and their applications to the polarographic method is given. The equations for the polarographic wave at the jet electrode for a slow electrode reaction, and for the difference between the half-wave potential at the dropping and jet electrodes are derived. The theory is verified by the reduction of H2O2, Ti4+, and Zn2+. This expression applies if an electrode reaction proceeds in one direction, where k and α are consts. independent of the v = Cke -αnFπ/RT depolarizer concn. C and of the potential π. The interpretation of the const. α is not quite satisfactory. 37 references.
