Slovak University, Bratislava

Abstract: The theory of the relation of hydrotropy to chem. constitution was proven by testing substituted and unsubstituted org. carboxylic and sulfonic acids and hydrochlorides of H2NC6H4CO2H. Some new highly hydrotropic compds. such as the Na salts of 9-fluorenecarboxylic, 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic, and 9-phenanthrenecarboxylic acids and the Na salt of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthalenesulfonic, 2-naphthalenesulfonic, and 2-anthraquinonesulfonic acids have been found. By testing complex salts of Be-Na and Be-K salicylates the importance of soly. of carboxyl and hydroxyl groups has been proven.
