Abstract: A method for the detn. of the polydispersion of cellulose (I) based on the fractional pptn. of I dissolved in NaOH is described. This method consists of these steps: (1) the regeneration of native I by pptg. it from Schweizer's reagent; (2) dissolving it in 10% NaOH at -5°; (3) fractional pptn. of aliquot portions with 2N H2SO4. The degree of polymerization of unpptd. I was detd. by measuring its viscosity in 10% NaOH.
