Precipitation of organic substances from sulfite waste liquors
J. Slávik and R. Boríšek
Research Institute Cellulose Industry, Bratislava
Abstract: Org. substances in sulfite waste liquors are coagulated by heating with H2SO4 (14.6 g. per l.; 1 hr. at 150°). HCl, HNO3, and H2C2O4 are less effective, and H3PO4, H3BO3, H2SiF6, HCO2H, AcOH, and tartaric acid are without effect. Coagulation is accelerated by Al3+, Cr3+, and Sn2+, and retarded by SO32-. Concn. of the liquors facilitates coagulation.
