Interatomic Distances in Barium- and Copper-Based Superconductors

Abstract: Comparing metal—oxygen and metal—metal distances in Ba- and Cu-based superconductors, the Ba—Cu distance appears very stable, which indicates direct barium—copper bond. This result appears as a new indication that'ionic compounds must be described with neutral atoms. Consequently a building process for several high-critical temperature (Tc ) superconductors has been proposed.
