Abstract: For the first time in this work, 4-amino-3-hydrazino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole (Purpald®) polymer film on the surfaces of disposable pencil graphite electrodes (PGEs) were successfully electrosynthesized. The optimized conditions of electropolymerization of Purpald® film were also investigated. Electrochemical deposition was carried out by cyclic voltammetry (CV) in a potential range of 0.0–1.0 V at a scan rate of 25 mV s−1 in 10 cycles. Polymer growth conditions were systematically investigated for determining optimal settings in developing the sensor. The recommended Purpald®-modified pencil graphite electrodes were used for the determination of fenitrothion. Under appropriate working conditions, the differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) current response of fenitrothion (FNT) oxidation was linear in the range of 25–200 µM (R2: 0.993) with a detection limit of 17.39 µM (S/N: 5). The recommended Purpald®-modified pencil graphite electrode was successfully applied to the detection of fenitrothion in apple juice and tap water.
