Viral infections still pose a significant global health and economic burden, while numerous drugs are available on the market to treat these infections. Indazole derivatives are the highest sightsaw ligands in the research of medicinal chemistry, as they form the core nucleus of enormous compounds with significant pharmacological activities, including potent antiviral effects against various types of viruses, including human immunodeficiency virus, SARS-CoV-2, Herpes simplex virus-1, human respiratory syncytial virus, Adenovirus, Coxsackievirus B4, Rotavirus, Hepatitis A, B, and C viruses, Influenza, Parainfluenza, Rhinovirus, Zika, Dengue and West Nile viruses. The indazole scaffold shows promising prospects for playing an effective role in binding to viral and human targets to treat and/or prevent various viral diseases.
