Reactions of chlorinated tetrahydrofurans. XIX. Polychlorination of chlorotetrahydrofurans

Abstract:  Polychlorination of tetrahydrofuran has been studied in detail using gas chromatog­raphy, high resolution liquid chromatography, and p.m.r. spectrometry for the analysis of products. Pathways of polychlorination, depending upon the reaction temperature and the intensity of u.v. irradiation, have been proposed. Some of the pathways can be utilized in the preparation of desired polychloro derivatives. New chlorinated tetrahy­drofuran derivatives have been identified and characterized.
