Abstract: cf. Meites and Bishop, CA 60, 4766h. A general equation is derived which is valid for the calcn. of H ion concns. in an aq. soln. of an arbitrary no. (n) of acids or bases which dissoc. up to the the 1st step. The equation is: H+ = Σi=ni=1 [Kiei0/(Ki + [H+])] + (Kw/[H+]) = F([H+]), where H+ = H ion concn. and Ki and ci0 = dissoc. const. and anal. concn. of i acid, resp. For the practical calcn. of H ion concn., an iteration method can be easily applied.
