Influence of pressure in preparing pressed samples on the scattering coefficient of β-radiation

Abstract: A device was constructed to test the effect of pressure in prepg. pressed samples of powd. metals on the scattering coeff. of β-radiation. Expts. were carried out in the isotropic and detection geometry with powd. and cast Pb, Sn, and Al at various pressures in the interval 810 to 12,230 kg./cm² The scattering coeff. of β-radiation was not affected by the pressure in the interval 13-82 Mev. regardless if the metals were powd. or cast.
