Determination of the esters of 7-dehydrocholesterol and other steroids by thin-layer chromatography on aluminum oxide

Abstract: A method was developed for the detn. of the acetate or benzoate of 7-dehydrocholesterol in the reaction mixt. from the synthesis of vitamin D₃. The steroid matter is detd. by spectrophotometry after the sepn. (EtOH elution). The deviation of the method is 1.6% for 7-dehydrocholesterol benzoate.
