The determination of volatile fatty acids by paper chromatography

Abstract: A modification of the detn. of lower fatty acids by paper chromatography is described. After distn. the acids are changed into hydroxamic derivs. which, after the detection with FeCl₃, are quant. detd. densitometrically. A method for calcg. the results of analyses from densitometric measurements and its application if the chromatographic sepn. is not quant. is given.
