Determination of scopolamine in the presence of an excess of morphine and ethylmorphine

Abstract: Chromatography in a mixt. of BuOH and H₂O gave complete sepn. of morphine, scopolamine (I), and ethylmorphine in a concn. of 80:1:120 and in the prepn. 'Modiscop.' By visual evaluation and by plotting the increasing concn. of the standard against the decreasing concn. in the sample it was possible to det. I with an accuracy of ±15%. For an exact detn. of I, a method of measuring negatives by the densitometer, by planimetry, and by the comparison of the size of the plots can be used.
