Polarographic determination of warfarin

Abstract: An indirect polarographic method is based on the formation of CHI₃ in alk. medium with the acetyl radical: CH₃COR + 6I + 3NaOH = CI₃COR + 3NaI + 3H₂O; CI₃COR + NaOH = CHI₃ + RCOONa. Pptd. CHI₃ is filtered off, dissolved in MeOH, and detd. polarographically. Because CHI₃ reaction is not quant., exptl. factor, detd. polarographically, is used for calcn. of warfarin.
