Effect of temperature on the on exchange separation of chromium and manganese

Abstract: The sepn. of Cr³⁺ and Mn²⁺ as chloro complexes in 10.5M HCl at higher temps. by the anion exchange resin Dowex 2 × 8 (100-200 mesh) was studied, with ⁵¹Cr and ⁵⁴Mn traces with 10.5M HCl elution for Cr and 7M HCl elution for Mn. The sepn. coeff. (equals 1 at room temp.) is increased 4 times if the temp. is increased 70°, and quant. sepn. was possible at 55-80°. This process can replace more complicated processes for some special sepns.
