Phthalides and 1,3-indandione. XII. Substitution in the 2-position in 2-(halophenyl)-1,3-indandiones with chlorine, bromine and thiocyanate

Abstract: For pharmacol. testing, 2-Cl, 2-Br, 2-SCN, and 2-halophenyl derivs. of 1,3-indandiones were prepd. During exchange of halogen with SCN group in the 2-position, at higher temps., instead of SCN derivs., the corresponding bis(1,3-indandiones) are formed.
