The crystal structure of potassium metavanadate

Abstract: The crystal structure of KVO₃ was detd. from Weissenberg and precession patterns. The dimensions of the orthorhombic elementary cell detd. from the precession pictures and from the pictures of rotating monocrystal are: a = 5.70; b = 10.82; c = 5.22 A. The space group is D2h11-Pmab and Z = 4. The arrangement of atoms in the elementary cell was detd. from the interpretation of Patterson's functions and from the projection of electron density on planes (100) and (001). Its structure is isomorphous to that of NH₄VO₃.
