Control methods in the production of lactic acid. III. The determination of lime-bound acids by the eudiometric method

Abstract: cf. C.A. 48, 6964d. The detn. is described of Ca-bound org. acids (I) in low-grade, highly colored molasses mash in the production of lactic acid. Lime is pptd. from the neutral solns. with Na₂CO₃ as CaCO₃ and filtered. In an aliquot of the filtrate, excess Na₂CO₃ is detd. eudiometrically as CO₂. An eudiometer, mechanized to such an extent that 4 detns. can be carried out at the same time, is described. From the measured values I can be calcd. with the help of the nomograms with an accuracy ±0.6%.
