Abstract: The possibility to use 2-furylacetic acid for Perkin synthesis of phthalides was investigated. The dependence of yield upon temperature was studied. The preparation of 2-(2-furyl)-l,3-indandione was described. The structure of the prepared substances was proved by infra-red spectroscopy
