Modification of rubbers. II. Coplasticization of two-rubber mixtures in the screw extruder

Abstract: cf. CA 55, 25314i. Coplasticization of pale crepe and Buna S₃ and the pale crepe and Polysar, in the extruder is described. The extrudate was tested by detn. of swelling in PhNO2 and in a mixt. of C₆H₆ and MeCOEt, with selective pptn. and selective soly., and by detg. the amt. of gel. Coplasticization of the 2-rubber mixts. in the extruder at 35-40° gave modified rubbers. Decreasing the temp. and introducing an inert atm. have favorable effects for the modification, while nonrubher admixts. have an unfavorable effect.
