Identification and determination of some isomers of tert-butylcresols in technical 2,6-bis(tert-butyl)-4-methylphenol by gas chromatography

Abstract:  2,6-Bis(tert.butyl)-4-methylphenol, 6-terč.butyl-2,4-dimethylphenol, 2-tert.butyl-4-methylphenol, 3-methyl-4-tert.butylphenol, 2-(2,5-dimethylhexyl)-4-methylphenol, 4,6-bis(tert.butyl)-3-methylphenol were found by gas chromatography in the alkylation mixture after the reaction of m-cresol and p-cresol with 2-methylpropylene and its polymers, respectively. The time of elution of those isomers was determined and their dentity was proven by adding of pure substances on two columns different in polarity.
