An apparatus for differential thermal analysis (DTA) at low temperatures

Abstract: An app. with a device to observe temp. changes from -50 to 500° is described. DTA curves can be made at cooling or heating, which can be utilized also in the inorg. chem. of silicates and mineralogy. The principle of the app. consists in an Al block, contg. the sample and standard, which can be pushed in and out of the metal vertical tube, which is heated in the upper part and cooled in the lower part. By regulation of the speed of shifting the block, it is possible to obtain a linear decrease or increase of temp.
