Abstract: This research examined the wound healing properties of an emulgel formulation that includes, essential oils from Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha). The emulgel was formulated by incorporating an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion with a base (gel), displaying stability at room temperature, while representing phase separation, pH variations, and enlarged globule size when exposed to higher temperatures. The formulation showed encouraging wound healing characteristics in an excision wound model, with notable wound contraction observed over 20 days (for instance, 83 mm2 for the control group compared to 54 mm2 for the Ashwagandha emulgel group, p < 0.05). Furthermore, the emulgel indicated an In vitro Sun Protection Factor of 12.11, suggesting its potential advantages for both skin protection and repair. Although the findings underline the therapeutic potential of Ashwagandha emulgel in wound healing.
