Influence of Structure on Antimicrobial Activity of Some Heterocycies.4. 1 -(3-Alkylamino-2-hydroxypropyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazoles

Abstract: Several 1-(3-alkylamino-2-hydroxypropyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazoles were prepared by the ring-opening displacement reaction of 1-(2,3-epoxypropyl)-2-methyl-5nitroimidazole with some amines. The structure of the prepared compounds was confirmed on the basis of IR, mass, NMR spectral data and elemental analysis. Antimicrobial activity of these compounds against selected bacteria and fungi was also determined. No significant effects were found in this respect.
