Preparation and reactions of 2-isothiocyanato-3-cyano-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene

Abstract: 2-Isottoocyanato-3-cyano-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[6]thiophene was prepared by the reaction of 2-amino-3-cyano-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[6]thiophene with thiophosgene in the presence of calcium carbonate in dichloromethane at room temperature. The product reacted with secondary amines in the mixture of dichloromethane and petroleum ether at room temperature giving five 3,3-disubstituted l-(3-cyano-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thien-2-yl)thioureas.
