Synthesis and biological activity of 6-X-2-(4-R-phenoxyacetylamino)benzothiazole derivatives

Abstract:  6-X-2-(4-R-Phenoxyacetylamino)benzothiazoles have been prepared by acylation of 6-X-2-aminobenzothiazole with phenoxyethanoyl chloride and 4-chlorophenoxyethanoyl chloride. The prepared amides were reduced with LiAlH₄ and the structures of the products were confirmed by means of their IR and NMR spectra. The compounds were tested for herbicidal and antifungal activities; some of them exhibited high herbicidal activity.
