Preparation of master alloy of aluminum with strontium by electrolysis of molten chlorides

Abstract:  Current efficiency of the electrolysis of molten mixtures of alkali metal chlorides with strontium chloride was investigated. In the case that the melts are of low density in comparison with aluminium-based cathode, the current efficiency depends on content of strontium in the alloy and on cathodic current density. If the cathodic current density is higher than 5 A dm^-2 current efficiency rapidly falls down.
