Abstract: D-Glucose 4-nitrophenylhydrazone is degraded to D-arabinose in a reaction affected by H₂O₂. By this simple procedure D-[U-¹⁴C]arabinose can be obtained from D-[U-¹⁴C]glucose in 53% yield.
