5,6-Unsaturated amylose derivatives

Abstract:  By the direct halogenation of 2,3-di-O-acetyIamylose with triphenylphosphine and N-iodosuccinimide was prepared 2,3-di-O-acetyl-6-iodo-6-deoxyamylose. The degree of substitution (iodine) was 0.50. Elimination of hydrogen iodide in methanolic solution -of potassium hydroxide afforded 5,6-amylosene contai ing 41.10% of 6-deoxy-glucose-5,6-en units.
