Furan Derivatives. XXII. Identification of Some By-products from Nitration of 3-(2-Furyl)acrylic Acid

Abstract:  By-products from nitration of trans-3-(2-furyl)acrylic acid were isolated from an ether extract and identified by chromatographic R_F values as being 1-nitro-2-(2-furyl)ethene, 1-nitro-2-(5-nitro-2-furyl)ethene and cis-3-(5-nitro-2-furyl)acrylic acid.
