Alcohols and hydrocarbons as telogens in radical telomerization of ethylene

Abstract:  Ethylene telomerizey at 140—160°C not only with primary, secondary, but also with tertiary alcohols, further with alkanes (n-heptane, cyclohexane) and even though with aromatic hydrocarbons, di-t-butylperoxide being the initiator of the reaction. Little differences in the C —H bond strength, as well as a greater amount of equivalent bonds in the molecules of the particular telogen.es are one of the main determinants resulting in a complex mixture of telomer products.
