Isothiocyanates (XXIV) Synthesis and Identification of 4-(p-Terphenylyl)isothiocyanates and Their Intermediates

Abstract: This paper deals with the synthesis of three up to date not described 4-(p-terphenylyl)isothiocyanates and their six intermediates, two of which having not been described, too. A procedure was developed to identify p-terphenyl derivatives by means of thin layer chromatography on alumina, as well as by gas chromatography. Infra-red and ultra-violet spectra were taken of the synthetized 4-(p-terphenylyl) isothiocyanates.
