Separation of water-soluble components in spent liquor from wood methanolysis

Abstract: H₂O-sol. fractions of lignin from methanolysis were sepd. on mol. sieves (Sephadex G 25, 50, 75) according to their mol. wt. Only coarse fractionation was achieved and aromatic components were not sepd. from saccharide components. This was accomplished with Dowex 50 W ion exchanger.
