Comparative studies on the ring-cleavage of ethyleniminoquinones by hydrolysis

Abstract: The dependence of the rate of hydrolysis of ethyleniminoquinones (I) on the pH value is studied. The rate increases with decreasing no. of ethylenimino group and with decreasing pH. The cytostatic action of I is ascribed to the production of H₂O₂ from the hydroquinone formed in the cell.
