(±)-ind-N-Methylquebrachamine, the fourth racemic alkaloid from Vinca minor

Abstract: From V. minor, the 4th racemic alkaloid, (±)-ind-N-methylquebrachamine (I), was isolated, m. 70-2°, [α]20D 0 ± 20 (c 0.86, EtOH), and its structure detd. by mass spectrometry. The possible formation of racemic and optically active alkaloids from an optically inactive dialdehyde was discussed.
