Enzymic oxidation of itaconic acid to itatartaric acid

Abstract: From the mycelium of a mutant Aspergillus terreus, selected by ultraviolet radiation, an enzyme was obtained which at pH 4 catalyzed almost quant. oxidation of itaconic acid to itatartaric acid. The biochem. properties of this proposed enzyme which has been named itaconic acid oxidase are given.
