The problem of fluorides determination in drinking waters

Abstract: The direct detn. of fluorides in drinking waters by aluminon, chromazurole, and titration methods were compared. The effect of SO₄^--, Cl^-, I^-, Br^-, PO₄^---, H₂PO₄^-, B₄O₂^--, Al⁺⁺⁺, Ca⁺⁺, and Fe⁺⁺⁺ ions in various concns. were studied. The best method was the direct titration with Th(NO₃)₄.4H₂O with Alizarin Red indicator, with some modification after eliminating interfering sulfates as BaSO₄.
