The relation of hydrotropy to chemical constitution

Abstract: The theory of the relation of hydrotropy to chem. constitution was proven by testing substituted and unsubstituted org. carboxylic and sulfonic acids and hydrochlorides of H₂NC₆H₄CO₂H. Some new highly hydrotropic compds. such as the Na salts of 9-fluorenecarboxylic, 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic, and 9-phenanthrenecarboxylic acids and the Na salt of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthalenesulfonic, 2-naphthalenesulfonic, and 2-anthraquinonesulfonic acids have been found. By testing complex salts of Be-Na and Be-K salicylates the importance of soly. of carboxyl and hydroxyl groups has been proven.
