The determination of bismuth with 8-quinolinol

Abstract: The detn. of Bi by oxine (I) in AcOH soln. with NaOAc and in ammoniacal tartrate soln. (II) was studied. The detn. in II is much better because it is possible to sep. Bi from alkali and alk. earth metals, As(III), W(VI), Te(IV), and Sc(IV). Halides do not interfere. The Bi is pptd. quantitatively with I at pH 5.15 to 10.55.
